Mt. Elgon is the 4th highest mountain in East Africa. Its highest peak, Waggagai is on Ugandan territory. The mountain with its numerous springs and waterfalls on the Ugandan side is a major reservoir for the Nile.
The elephants, renowned the worlds over for their craving for salt visit the numerous caves on the Kenyan side. Apart from the largest cave, the Kitum cave, there are also spectacular others at Chepnyali and Mackingeny.
