We are picked up at 7.00am from our hotel in Arusha by our driver/guide. After a short briefing, we drive to Lake Natron with packed lunch. We pass the ancient Engaruka irrigation scheme and we soon we start to notice the volcanic ash cones from the Kerimasi and Lengai mountains. In the afternoon, we arrive at waterfall campsite. In the late afternoon we take a game drive along the lake shores where we find zebras, giraffes, plenty of water birds and spectacular flocks of flamingoes. Dinner and the overnight stay will be at our fly camp.
Today we have an early breakfast and board our 4x4 vehicles to the highlands of Loliondo. The scenery is captivating and as we climb, the arid area changes to rich savannah. We stop for lunch in one of the local restaurants in Loliondo. We enter the Serengeti through the Klein’s Gate. Game drives en-route reveal the richness of Wildlife. We pitch our tents at the Lobo campsite while the cook prepares our dinner.
Today we drive to Central Serengeti with packed lunch for a full day excursion in the “endless plains” - the Maasai meaning of the word Serengeti. If we are lucky, we may witness some hunting thrills. Serengeti is home to all the major species of wildlife with thousands of Wildebeests, Zebras, Giraffes, Impalas, Gazelles, buffaloes and elephants. The kopjes, a volcanic rock formation spreading all over the plains are the hideouts of large Lion prides. Cheetahs can easily be spotted and with some luck we will also spot Leopards. In the late afternoon, we return again to our fly camp for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast we leave our camp with lunchboxes and drive through the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands. With game drives en-route, we reach the Olduvai Gorge in the afternoon. This place is also known as “the cradle of mankind”. A visit to the museum gives us an insight to Leakeys; the archeologists who discovered the origin of mankind. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the Olduvai campsite.
After an early breakfast we will descend into the crater floor for a game drive. Here we come across virtually all game one can expect to see in East Africa. Ngorongoro is definitely nothing short of one of the Natural Wonders of the World. With packed lunch in your car, we will have plenty of time to watch the animals before climbing back up the steep crater walls in 4x4 vehicles for dinner and overnight and the Simba campsite.
After breakfast at the crater rim while viewing the wildlife 600m below on the crater floor, we wind up our tour and drive back to Arusha with lunch on the way.
