The flamingo-littered lake Natron paired by Oldoinyo Lengai offers a remarkable view. The wildlife packed Ngorongoro crater is a haven for game watchers as it hosts the highest density of wildlife in the region.
After arrival at JRO, we meet our driver guide who will pick us up and transfer us to Arusha. We will have a short briefing and later have dinner and overnight stay at the hotel/lodge.
After breakfast we leave with packed lunch for Manyara National Park. This National Park is on the shores of a beautiful lake, referred to also as “Old Hunter’s Paradise". It’s a home to the legendary tree climbing lions. On the lakeshore we find herds of hippos next to thousands of flamingoes and other water birds. After lunch at the hot springs, we continue with game drives before we climb the escarpment wall for dinner and overnight at the Lodge.
Today we drive to Lake Natron. We pass the ancient irrigation scheme in Engaruka and also get to see modern day irrigation projects there. Soon, we start seeing the volcanic ash cones of Kerimasi and Lengai. In the early afternoon we reach Ngare Sero Lake Natron Camp for lunch. In the late afternoon we take a game drive along the lake shores where we find zebras, giraffes, plenty of water birds, and spectacular flamingoes. Dinner and the overnight stay will be at the Camp/lodge.
Today we have an early breakfast and board our 4x4 vehicles to the highlands of Loliondo. The scenery is captivating and as we climb the arid area it gradually changes to a rich savannah. After entering the Serengeti through the Klein’s Gate we stop at the Lobo Lodge for lunch and continue our safari with game drives en-route to the Central Serengeti. Dinner and the overnight stay will be at the Camp/lodge.
The day starts early in the morning with a game drive in the “endless plains” the Maasai name for Serengeti. Our dreams of watching lions hunt numerous wildebeests and gazelles may become a reality. We can opt for a full day game drive with packed lunch or return to the camp for lunch. Both options give us a good opportunity to explore the Park, on which Grzimek’s famous documentary “The Serengeti Shall Not Die” is based on. Dinner and the overnight stay will be at the Lodge/camp.
After another early morning game drive, we leave after late breakfast with packed lunch and drive to the Olduvai Gorge. Here, Mary and Louise Leakey, the renowned archeologists discovered some of the oldest human fossils. We stop for a visit at the museum and have our packed lunch. In the afternoon we proceed to Lake Ndutu for dinner and our overnight stay at the Lodge/camp.
After breakfast, we enjoy game drives in the Ndutu area. The area is usually heavily populated with elephants, birds and plains game. We explore a wide range of different habitats that include swamps, woodland, soda lakes and the world famous Serengeti short grass plains. In a short time frame in February, lasting for about 3 weeks, a majority of the wildebeest calve here. Wildebeest calves can run minutes after they are born and within 3 days they are usually strong enough to keep up with the herd. After lunch we drive to the Ngorongoro rim for dinner and our overnight stay at the Lodge/camp.
Today we visit the world’s largest intact caldera; the Ngorongoro Crater. After breakfast we descend to the crater floor. Here we come across virtually all game one expects to see in East Africa. Ngorongoro is definitely one of the natural Wonders of the World. With packed lunch in our car, we will have plenty of time to watch the animals and explore the vast, 20km in diameter caldera, before going up the steep crater walls in 4x4 vehicles for dinner and overnight at our lodge.
After breakfast we drive to Tarangire National Park. We arrive at the Tarangire Treetops for lunch and if time allows will have a game drive en-route to the lodge. After lunch we rest and embark on our afternoon game drive at around 3.00 pm. We encounter elephants, lots of plain game, predators such as lions and with some luck leopards. With over 400 bird species, Tarangire is a paradise for bird watchers. Dinner and the overnight stay will be at Tarangire Treetops Lodge.
Today we can use the whole day to explore the vast park. We can choose between a full day safari with packed lunch or coming back for lunch to the camp. Whatever option we choose will depend on the advice given by our driver/guide the previous evening. Dinner and the overnight stay will once again be at the Tarangire Treetops Lodge.
After Breakfast, drive back to Arusha with optional lunch, and drive to the airport for the evening departure.
