We start off from Arusha with picnic lunchboxes in the car and head to Lake Manyara National park. This is the Old Hunter’s Paradise with the legendary tree climbing lions. Besides numerous plains Game, there are herds of buffaloes and elephants, primates such as baboons and vervet Monkeys. On the Lakeshore, we are sure to spot flamingoes and other water birds feeding on the algae amongst the hippo herds. After lunch break at the scenic hot springs that feed the lake, we proceed to Karatu for our dinner and overnight stay.
Today we visit one of the natural Wonders of the World; the Ngorongoro Crater. After breakfast, we drive up to the crater rim before descending into the crater floor for a game drive. Here we come across virtually all game one expects to see in East Africa including the endangered black Rhino. With lunchboxes in our car, we have plenty of time to watch the animals before climbing back up the steep crater walls. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge.
Our safari continues after breakfast via the Olduvai Gorge, where some of the oldest human fossils were found. After a visit to the museum on site we continue with game drives en-route the Serengeti for a late lunch. We have some time for a siesta, before starting an evening game drive in the “endless plains” - the meaning of the Maasai Word “Serengeti”. Our dreams of seeing lions and cheetahs hunting the wildebeests and gazelles become a reality. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Serengeti Katikati camp.
We start off early in the morning before breakfast for another game drive in the ‘endless plains’. At 9.00 am we return to the lodge for breakfast and check out. We leave with a picnic basket and continue with game drives en-route to Speke Bay on the shores of Lake Victoria. In the late afternoon, we arrive at the Speke Bay Lodge for our dinner and overnight stay. The lodge is an ideal place for a one night stop in Tanzania before going back to Kenya. As we wait for dinner we enjoy a drink as we watch the sun setting on the western horizon of the lake.
After breakfast, we leave with lunch boxes for Isebania, the Kenyan/Tanzanian Border post. Once in Kenya, we take a 3-4 hours drive to the scenic Mara plains. First we traverse the densely populated hilly areas where the main economic activity is small scale intensive agriculture. We then re-enter the extended plains of Serengeti now the Maasai Mara, through Olololo Gate. The route taken depends on the road and weather conditions. In the late afternoon, we arrive at Ashnil Mara camp where we shall have dinner and overnight.
This day can be spent on game drives with lunch boxes or early morning and evening game drives with lunch at the camp. We have planned the day’s program with our driver the previous evening. Whatever our plan is, we shall definitely find plenty of wildlife and with some luck, encounter the “Big Five". Dinner and overnight stay will be at a camp in the Mara.
After breakfast we leave the Mara with game viewing drives en-route. As we head for Nairobi, we shall stop at Narok for lunch. In the late afternoon, we will pass through the Rift Valley and a stop at scenic view point and arrive in Nairobi. We will be dropped off at the airport for departure arrangements or our hotel.
