Day 1: Vienna - Doha - Kilimanjaro Airport
Arrive from Vienna via Doha to Kilimanjaro Airport / Arusha.
Day 2: 2 Arusha – Machame
Upon arrival, we will be met by our agency and drive to Machame Village, where we will stay at the Aishi Hotel for the next two nights.
Day 3: Hike to the Materuni Waterfall
After breakfast, we will hike to the Materuni waterfall and visit a typical Chagga village after lunch. In the afternoon, we reach our hotel again and make the final preparations for the adventure!
Day 4: Machame Village - Machame Gate - Machame Camp (3.100m)
Today our Kilimanjaro adventure can begins. After breakfast, we transfer to Machame Gate, 1.800m. From here we start the ascent of Kilimanjaro. After arriving at the gate, the porters check the equipment one last time and then divide the loads among themselves. We walk through the dense rainforest which is one of the most beautiful areas and reach the Machame Camp, where we set up our first tent camp at an altitude of about 3,100m. Walking time about 4 - 5 hours.
Day 5: Machame Camp (3,100m) - Shira Camp (3,850m)
After breakfast, we continue the climb and leave the rainforest zone. The trail leads steeply uphill from the camp through a forest and over stone blocks up to 3.700m altitude, where we reach open terrain with marshy bog with Senecia and Lobelia. After crossing several ravines and ridges, the trail then continues to the Shira Camp, where we build our second camp at about 3,850m. Walking time about 5 - 6 hours
Day 6:Shira Camp – Lava Tower (4.600m) – Barranco Camp (3.950m)
From the Shira Plateau the path leads through an almost vegetation-free high mountain desert to the striking Lava Tower (4.655m). Today's destination for the day is the Barranco Camp, located at an altitude of 3,950m. From there we have a tremendous view of the mighty "Breach Wall" and the southern ice fields. The camp at the Barranco hut is enchanting and is among giant crested herbs and lush vegetation. Walking time about 6 - 7 hours.
Day 7: Baranco Camp (3.950m) – Karanga Camp (4.100m)
Today is for acclimatization to the altitude and to prepare for the upcoming summit storm. We go up and down at an altitude of over 4,000m and cross the Karanga Gorge. Our camp today is pitched near the Karanga hut at about 4.100m. Walking time about 3-4 hours.
Day 8:Karanga Camp (4.100m) – Barafu Camp (4.600m)
In order to be able to tackle the ascent to the summit in the best possible physical condition, we will do another short acclimatization today. During our ascent to the Barafu Camp, we repeatedly catch sight of the huge ice slopes of the Rebmann Glacier. The last overnight stay at high altitude then takes place near the Barafu Hut, which is at an altitude of 4.600m. From here we enjoy a magnificent view of the Kibo and the Mawenzi. Walking time about 3 - 4 hours.
Day 9: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak (5.895m) – Mweka Camp (3.100m)
At midnight we tackle the toughest, but also the most fascinating stage of our tour. On the way to the summit we reach the crater rim at Stella Point, at about 5,745m. Then we are at the highest peak of the African continent, Uhuru Peak, at 5.895m. The wonderful panoramic view and the feeling of having reached the highest peak in Africa is unforgettable. Then we descend in about 5 hours to the Mweka Camp, where we spend our last tent night. Walking time about 11 - 13 hours.
Day 10:Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate (1.700m) – Arusha
After breakfast, we continue down to the Mweka Gate, where we say goodbye to our escort team at a small first summit celebration at the gate and receive our summit certificate. Then we drive to Arusha, safari capital of the country - here we move into our quarters and can relax by the swimming pool from the hardships of the last days. Walking time about 3 - 4 hours.
Day 11: Arusha or optional trip Arusha National Park
We can use today for some last minute shopping, relaxing at the swimming pool, or take part in a trip to the Arusha National Park.
Day 12: Morning at leisure - At noon transfer to the airport
Around noon transfer to the airport and return flight via Doha to Vienna.
