Itinerary Details

Day 1
Arrival at JRO, our driver/guide will pick us up, greet and meet us with a pre safari- briefing and drive us to the hotel/lodge for dinner and our overnight stay.

Day 2
After breakfast we leave Arusha and drive south to Tarangire National Park with a game drive en-route to the Tarangire Treetops Lodge. After lunch, we rest and embark on our evening game drive at around 3.00pm. Besides elephants we encounter lots of plain game, predators such as lions and with some luck leopards. Dinner and the overnight stay will be at Lodge/camp.

Day 3
Today we will use the whole day to explore the vast park. We can choose between a full day safari with packed lunch or return to the camp for lunch. The option we choose will depend on the advice given by our driver/guide the previous evening. Whatever we choose, we are sure to find plenty of elephants mingling with plain game and with a little luck cheetahs and lions. Birdwatchers will be glad to find over 400 different species in the park. Dinner and the overnight stay will once again be at the Lodge/camp.

Day 4
After breakfast we leave with packed lunch for Manyara National Park. This National Park is on the shores of a beautiful lake, tucked below the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Referred to also as ‘Old Hunter’s Paradise’ it is home to the legendary tree climbing lions. On the Lakeshore we find herds of hippos, thousands of flamingoes and other water birds. After a lunch break at the hot springs we continue with the game drive before we proceed to the Lodge/camp for our dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5
Today we drive via Olduvai to Serengeti. We visit the museum at the Olduvai Gorge, and marvel at fossils which depict the great history of the Cradle of Mankind. Mary & Louise Leaky spent many years here researching and excavating fossils in the area. At Olduvai we have our packed lunch, after which we proceed with game drives en-route to the Lodge/camp for dinner and the overnight stay.

Day 6
The day starts early in the morning with a game drive in the “endless plains” the Maasai name for Serengeti. Our dreams of watching lions hunt wildebeests and gazelles may become a reality. We can opt for a full day game drive with packed lunch or return to the camp for lunch. Both options give us a good opportunity to explore the Park on which Grzimek based his famous documentary on “The Serengeti Shall Not Die”. Dinner and the overnight stay will be at Lodge/Camp.

Day 7
After an early morning game drive we return to the Camp for a late breakfast and relax at the pool for the rest of the morning. After and early lunch we drive back to the to the Ngorongoro conservation area. Ngorongoro is definitely one of the natural Wonders of the World, known for all game one expects to see in East Africa. Dinner and the overnight stay will be at the Lodge/camp.

Day 8
After an early breakfast we descend to the crater floor for a game drive. We have plenty of time to watch the rich wildlife ranging from elephants, rhinos to predators such as lions, hippos and plains game and hundreds of bird species as we explore the vast, 20km in diameter caldera. At a scenic lake we stop for lunch and carefully open our lunch boxes as we protect them from the black kites. In the afternoon, we climb back up the steep crater walls in 4x4 vehicles for dinner and our overnight stay at the Lodge/camp.

Day 9
After breakfast we drive back to Arusha with optional lunch before we proceed to the airport for the evening departure.
